In Singapore, counsellors, therapists and Psychologists play a crucial role in the mental health service sectors. However, because of the overlaps in their job scopes, it is not uncommon for us to be confused with what each role entails. Thus, the terms “Counsellors”, “Therapists” and “Psychologists” are often used interchangeably. As such, this article seeks to highlight the differences between the 3 roles, as well as address misconceptions.
